Mindset coach Macarena Luz Bianchi (and Luz Flora founder) shares important ways to gently help your friend or loved one who may be stuck in the thought loops of grief. She provides a gentle framework to support others with the comforting balance of wonder, wellness, and wisdom known as the Lighthearted Living Formula.

Macarena says:

First, it's essential to communicate.

Communication is wellness in action. Reach out and clearly express your support. You can consider how to communicate through the lens of wonder, wellness, and wisdom. Wonder is the full expression of spirit; wellness is of the body; wisdom is of the mind.
When experiencing grief, love is a theme that covers and activates all three: wonder, wellness, and wisdom. Let your friend or loved one know that you're there for them. Just knowing that someone is there makes a huge difference.
Express your love and support. Whether it's a phone call, text, card, or in-person visit, showing up is essential. A grieving individual may not be ready to talk about what's happened, but that's okay. Let them know you're there for them with your loving presence, whether or not they want to talk.

Honor feelings of grief by offering comfort and grace.

You don't have to try to fix anything or wipe away all traces of sadness, but you can provide your presence, a shoulder to cry on, and a listening ear if and when needed.
The journey through grief is never easy. There are ups and downs, good days and bad days. During difficult times, people of all ages need support from friends and loved ones.
Holding space provides the gift of wonder, as does your patience and grace. Listen to their stories, honor their emotions, and let them know they do not have to go through this journey alone. You can share that you know the grieving process is different for everyone, but with time and support, healing is ahead.

Finally, reach out repeatedly.

Patience is an expression of wisdom. Healing takes time, so don't offer just one moment of support for your friend or loved one; provide many opportunities. Check-in periodically and let them know that you're still there for them. They'll appreciate knowing you're still there, even if they seem like they don't want to talk. With time and patience, people eventually heal from heartache and loss.
Being present for your grieving friend and honoring their feelings will help them through a difficult season of great sadness and grief. But know this: just as you can't rush the grief process, you can't force your friend to heal before they're ready. Your presence is vital, and offering love and understanding helps support their journey to recovery.

Losing a loved one is always difficult, and it can be hard to know how to support a grieving friend or family member. Macarena Luz Bianchi's Lighthearted Living Formula provides a gentle framework to help people experiencing grief with a balance of wonder, wellness, and wisdom that can help support a friend or loved one through their loss. Bianchi's tips can help you gently guide your friend or family member back to a place of lighthearted living.
